Team Evaluations

When we have enough registered players at the 12U and 14U levels, team evaluations will be held to determine team placements at a A, B1, or B level teams.

2026 Boys & Girls Evalualuations will be held March 23 & 25, 2026

All 12U & 14U players are required to attend

Our Goal

We believe every player deserves the opportunity to develop, compete, and have fun while playing lacrosse. Our team evaluation and placement process ensures athletes are placed on teams where they will be challenged appropriately, continue developing skills, and build confidence both on and off the field.

EVALUATION PROCESS

Evaluations are held in a positive, supportive environment. Players will rotate through skill stations, small-sided drills, and scrimmage situations designed to showcase their abilities in game-like scenarios.

What We Evaluate:

Our impartial evaluators will look at several factors during the evaluation process, including:

  • Stick skills (passing, catching, cradling)
  • Shooting and accuracy
  • Game IQ and decision-making
  • Athleticism, speed, and agility
  • Defensive positioning
  • Coachability, effort, and attitude
  • Team play and communication

Who Participates:

All players in the 12U and 14U age divisions must attend evaluations. This includes returning players and new athletes to the program.

Team evaluations may not be held when registration numbers do not support forming two or more teams within an age group.

Team placements

Following evaluations, players will be placed on teams based on:

  • Skill level
  • Positional needs
  • Team balance and development goals
  • Commitment and effort shown during evaluations

Our goal is to create competitive teams while ensuring all players are set up for success and growth.

The Rogers-Otsego Youth Lacrosse Board reserves the right to place any player on the best fit team regardless of evaluation attendance or scores.  All team placements are final.

Absences:

Any player unable to participate in tryouts due to injury, illness, or other Board approved absence will be evaluated on prior year performance, previous coaching recommendations, and current coach recommendation to determine the most likely team placement.

  • Parent/Player must complete the Evaluation Absence Request form at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of evaluations or as soon as the need arises due to injury or emergency.
  • Failure to submit the form may result in an automatic placement on a lower-level team

Before the first day of evaluations, the board will review all absence requests to determine if absence will be excused or un-excused.
